I stopped by the Water Church on the way to Ice Village. It is said that Tadao Ando designed the entrance to this church to be very long and wrap around, so that you can walk along the wall along the pond for a while and then go up and down after entering the building to enter the chapel with a sacred atmosphere. During the winter season, because there is so much snow, the entrance to the building outside the lake is blocked and a separate entrance to the building is used. Because it is a water church that is often used as a wedding hall, there is a cross on the glass window (actually the sliding door) to symbolize two people becoming one, and there is another cross in front of it. They appear to overlap exactly. The lighting was stylish, but it was disappointing that the architectural meaning was not captured well in the winter season. It will be even more wonderful if you come back in the summer season. Please watch the video on the wall carefully before leaving. It was nice to just watch the video.

The feeling of winter is different from that of summer. One is quiet and the other warm.

It's a bit of a long way to go, but I'm looking forward to it! You can take the JR train to Tomamu Station. If you don't have a JR Pass, purchase a return train ticket from the departure station in advance! It opens at 8:30, so if you arrive at the station around that time, the resort shuttle will be waiting for you. I only came to see the Water Church, but the driver was really kind. Impressive... They even give me a ride on the way back to the train station. Oh, and they say they don't open that window in winter🥲 The middle school student who used to buy and listen to Merry Cree singles with his hard-earned money has become an adult and is going on a pilgrimage to Merry Cree music video locations☺️✨🕯️⛪️❄️

I got off the bus on the way back from the public bath and was able to see it before it closed. A fantastic space. It's worth seeing. I thought it would be a good idea to charge a fee and be able to view it during the day.

Although it is far away, it is a church worth going to.

It's very atmospheric, but it's a pity that it's not open during the day.
